New to the market are Gigabyte’s latest H87 and Z87 chipset motherboards. These new motherboards come at a great price point with a fantastic specification with lots of ports to plug peripherals into.
The new H/Z87 chipset is required to support the latest Intel Haswell LGA1150 socket desktop processors that were released in mid-June. Please see our other blog for information on the Intel desktop processor series.
The Gigabyte motherboard supports three video outputs, 2x HDMI and 1x DVI-I simultaneously. So you can have up to three HD monitors connected to the motherboard at a time.
Dual Gigabit Ethernet ports are something not often seen on mini ITX motherboards, so consider the WI-FI and Bluetooth plus 4x USB 3.0 and 2x USB 2.0 Ports and you can get an idea of how much technology Gigabyte has got on to this board.
It also has 4x 6Gbps SATA3 ports which is unusual for a Mini ITX motherboard since usually they only come with 2. The main advantage for our 1U and 2U rack mounted computers is that we can now offer RAID5, RAID0+1 at 6Gbps using Intel’s Rapid Storage Manager.
Gigabyte are heavily promoting their Ultra Durable TM technology which uses solid state capacitors. This might appear a gimmick but solid-state capacitors have a much longer life and can withstand the rigors of an overclocked motherboard.
Our initial tests of this motherboard have been very promising and the customers who have so far purchased units are very impressed not only by the speed but also efficiency of the new Processors.
We have added these motherboards to our range of 1U Rack Mount Computers.
